Family Day (2001)

Family Day was a step in building the larger"Holler to the Hood" project. Rooted in the belief that familial bonds can endure, and be a critical part of building grassroots power, Family Day strived to unite prisoner families across Virginia, offering a day of solidarity, shared stories, and empowerment. As an integral part of the Holler to the Hood initiative, Family Day not only fostered connections but also imparted storytelling skills. Through carefully curated workshops and activities, families equipped to tell their story. This work became part of a larger statewide grassroots movement building effort.
